Commercial Operations Director - Kent
My client is a well-established visitor attraction based in the South East and looking for an experienced Commercial Operations Director to head up the commercial arm of the organisation. The commercial departments consist of various food and retail outlets in the visitor attraction with overnight accommodation options.
To head up the commercial arm of the organisation acting as number 2 to the MD with direct responsibility for four senior department managers reporting directly to you; Hotel General Manager, Short Breaks Manager, Short Breaks Sales & Revenue Manager and the Group Retail and Catering Manager.
You will take responsibility for managing your department\'s accounts, profit and loss control and provision of financial reports and forecasting to keep the business on track to achieve maximum profits though excellent financial controls and sourcing new business opportunities.
Acting at senior level and reporting directly to the MD to develop and implement business development strategies. This includes identifying new opportunities, developing new client relationships, creating business proposals.
Responsible for managing the accounts and budgets for the commercial departments under your control and providing detailed and accurate financial reports and projections to the MD.
Managing the commercial departments business development and operations of the Retail, Catering, Short Breaks, Hotel and Sales teams with ultimate responsibility for finance and accounts ensuring the teams under your control achieve their financial targets.
You will build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and staff.
Successfully handle both short and long-term commercial ventures, working closely with the Head of Marketing and PR and the Management Accountant.
Reviewing, scrutinizing, and developing operational processes.
Essential skills & experience:
This is a senior role, so between five and 10 years\' experience of successful commercial management, ideally with experience as FD or FC in the Hotel/ Leisure/ Food and Beverages or Retail sectors is required
Must have a strong financial acumen and a proven track record of maximising profits whist maintaining quality. Accountancy knowledge and experience is absolutely essential.
Along with demonstrating management experience, you must have developed commercial strategy.
