THE COMPANY

My client is a well-established visitor attraction based in the South East and looking for an experienced Commercial Operations Director to head up the commercial arm of the organisation. The commercial departments consist of various food and retail outlets in the visitor attraction with overnight accommodation options.

With four senior department managers reporting directly who cover four key areas: Hotel / Short Breaks / Sales & Revenue / Retail and Catering Manager. The key purpose of the role is to direct the commercial aspects of the business towards the correct path with the aim of ensuring that the company drives increased revenue and maximum profits. This post requires a senior level business professional with strong financial acumen and significant experience in a commercial role

The role:

To head up the commercial arm of the organisation acting as number 2 to the MD with direct responsibility for four senior department managers reporting directly to you; Hotel General Manager, Short Breaks Manager, Short Breaks Sales & Revenue Manager and the Group Retail and Catering Manager.

The key purpose of the role is to provide financial and operational direction to the commercial departments of the business ensuring that all departments achieve budgeted profit. Ideally you would be fully qualified in accountancy (ACA, ACCA,

CIMA) Previous experience as FD or possibly FC would be a distinct advantage.

You will take responsibility for managing your department\'s accounts, profit and loss control and provision of financial reports and forecasting to keep the business on track to achieve maximum profits though excellent financial controls and sourcing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Acting at senior level and reporting directly to the MD to develop and implement business development strategies. This includes identifying new opportunities, developing new client relationships, creating business proposals.

Responsible for managing the accounts and budgets for the commercial departments under your control and providing detailed and accurate financial reports and projections to the MD. 

Managing the commercial departments business development and operations of the Retail, Catering, Short Breaks, Hotel and Sales teams with ultimate responsibility for finance and accounts ensuring the teams under your control achieve their financial targets.

Scrutinise all commercial department budgets and management accounts and produce detailed business forecasts.

You will take the lead on managing client relationships and ensure that the board and management team are kept informed of market opportunities and business development.

You will build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and staff.

You will act as project manager having oversight of a number of different projects at different stages of development.  Ensure that various projects are completed within agreed deadlines, within budget and to the highest possible standards.
