Our client is a highly regarded, well established and financially secure main contractor with offices across the UK and a turnover of £150Millionl.  The company has a high percentage of repeat business from loyal and busy clients, and a wide variety of new build and refurbishment projects across general contracting sectors including Industrial, Commercial and Student Accommodation to name a few. The role - Project Manager

As Project Manager you will manage the delivery of a New Build or Refurbishment project typically between £5Million and £20Million in value.  The role will be reporting to an Operations Manager  You will be able to work in a fast paced environment where attention to detail is of utmost importance and the quality of the build is of an exceptional standard, and willing to travel to projects/office with occasional staying away where required. General however, projects are within 1 hour of central Bristol. 

Key accountabilities:

  • Achieve production targets and carry out programming and monitoring to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Read and understand specifications, drawings, preliminaries, preambles and contract documentation
  • Produce H&S and O&M on completion of projects
  • Requisition and management of materials/delivery
  • Issue subcontractors with regular short term programmes to ensure planned progress is achieved
  • Hold progress meetings
  • Display on site an up to date copy of the construction programme indicating the progress to date
  • Give full consideration to the tender allowances when establishing the site compound
  • Liaise with the design team, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to and maintain good working relationships
  • Attend monthly cost meetings and agree contribution forecast
  • Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety aspects
  • Obtain risk assessments and method statements from contractors prior to work commencement
  • Handle all customer care issues in a timely and professional manor
  • Manage Project Managers performance 


The candidate

The successful candidate will likely have: 

  • Significant experience as either as Project Manager for a Tier 1 or 2 main contractor
  • Track record of delivering a range of refurbishment and new build projects on time and to budget
  • Experience deliving projects of at least £10Million in individual value 
  • Commutable to Bristol office based and willing to travel to projects 
  • HND/Degree qualifications beneficial, or trade qualified background
