Based in London, we run short courses about buildings and building services for people working in housing, property management and facilities management to learn more about how to look after buildings. Candidates can take the courses as separate one-day modules, or combine some of them and achieve a nationally-recognised City & Guilds Certificate. Upkeep Training adds and amends the training calendar as and when it is relevant to the built environment workforce. For example, as well as courses in ‘basic building construction’ and ‘plumbing, wastes and drains’, we also offers training in ‘energy efficiency’ and an ‘introduction to solar photovoltaics’.

To improve the learning experience for candidates, our tutors make use of the ‘Upkeep Interactive Display’, an extensive collection of common items found in buildings such as boilers or electricity circuit boards. These models can be dismantled and studied closely in order for students to gain a real understanding of how buildings work. The collection benefits learners of all ages and backgrounds, including people working in construction and housing in technical and non-technical roles. Thousands of candidates have learned about buildings through our display and we continue to work with industry groups to build new collections to ensure it is up-to-date and relevant.
